Re: Large Database Question

Ok, let's say I create three tables for each library instead of one, that could be done. There would be the time to join them which would be expensive but probably worth it for the space saved.

The only problem I would have then would be, how do I make it searchable? Currently what I'm doing is taking the first entry for a given book or volume and putting it into a master table which I then index using Sphinx.

Assuming I want to search any library by book title, author, volume title, book size, or volume size this makes it easy because all the information is available in one table. What do you think about this idea and do you have any better ways to make this more quickly searchable with less repetition?
