"real-time synchronization between the data warehouse and the operational MySQL DB" -- Eh? What does this mean?

InfoBright is a good option for ad hoc, multi-dimensional queries. I don't understand the "synchronize" issue.

The other thing that can save the day is manually building "summary tables", then doing the queries against it.

It is rare for a data warehouse to really need the data in the Fact table. BI usually only needs to work with summaries.

With 5 dimensions, it might be good to have several summary tables.

SHOW CREATE TABLE, plus show us some of the SELECTs, and the queries that "synchronize" the databases. Something concrete may be a better way to discuss this task.

What language(s) are you willing to code in? You will probably have to write code, not just expect something off-the-shelf to do all the work. Perl is a good candidate.
