mySQL data corruption

Hi,
i using xml for data information storage.
XML is giving data corruption problem and i wish to switch to mySQL.
Will mySQL data gets corrupted during query execution if server is running perfectly ?
What scenario will cause mySQL data to get corrupted ?
It will be great if references can be provided.
