Can't use mySql administrator due to privilege problems!

Hi all,

First of all I just want to tell I am newbie in mySql setup and use...

I am working on Mac Leopard Server. There is a mySql engine (built in) running on it. I have set up a root password on the Leopard mySql preferences screen.
The mySql service is up and running.

When I go to my server console in order to test it it seems ok. Below what I do in order to test it:

mysql -uroot -p
Enter password:
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 7
Server version: 5.0.67-log Source distribution
Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.

It confirms my password is ok. right?

Then I start mySql administrator (last release for Mac OS) on a remote client.
I enter root as username and type in my password. Same I have used previously for my test via the console of course.

I click on the connect button and I get a screen with server status "server is running" but as soon as I click on the "account" icon I get the following message:

"Insufficient privileges for user account administration. try reconnecting with the 'root' account."

And then nearly no actions are possible since It seems I have privileges problems.

I am lost. What could I do?
Thanks a lot if you have any idea.

Best regards,
Eiffel
