Re: MySQL 5.5 on Windows XP

I get the exact same error when attempting to configure an instance using the MySQL Instance Configuration Wizard.

My platform is WinXP Professional SP3 and MySQL 5.5.8-win32

Am I correct to understand that MySQL 5.1 worked with your system, but MySQL 5.5 did not?

Have you settled on running MySQL v5.1 or v5.5?

Did anyone reply with a solution for the Error # 2003?

On my sytsem the TCP port # 3306 looks OK. I can connect to the db using the command prompt:

>mysql -u root -p
Enter password: <YOUR PASSWORD>
(please note I am using a NULL, blank, no password)

I do not understand the significance of 'localhost'(10061) in the error message.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Regards,

Bert
