Hey everyone with these problems.
try only this in your
/etc/hosts file
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.99 localhost.localdomain localhost
Do not have your server hostname specified in there and see if that works. Only have what I just typed there in your hosts file on Linux. Worked just now for me...
Windows users...good luck. :-)
Still not fully fixed though. Permissions won't set right..can't access database even STILL if I use localhost in the config file for phpadmin. This is killing me.
