I've stuffed up my MySQL Instance

I think I've made a really big mistake with my MySQL Server Instance. I created a second instance which I never used, but I changed the bin file to be the same as the main instance I was using. Later I tried uninstalling the unused instance, but not only did this not work properly, but seems to have also partially uninstalled the proper instance I was using. Either way, I can't connect to it. Monitor says it's not running, but won't allow me to restart it, but gives no error message (at least none that I can find).

Any ideas/help? I desperately don't want to lose my database definitions; I had 4 fairly well advanced schemas and no backups (what an idiot!).
