Did you uninstall 4.0.21 before installing 4.1.7? I just put MySQL 4.1.7 and MySQL Administrator 1.0.13 on a fresh installation of Windows 2000 Pro, and they seem to work fine.

You are able to open the left-hand panel in Administrator, right?
