Altering/deleting any column causes error

Hi there,

I have a system that was put in place by someone who left a long time ago. I am coming along today as I need to make some changes to this database.

It is a Mysql database running on Debian. He has left some documentation saying to use MYSQL administrator if I wanted to administrate this database, but nothing else on how to actually edit it.

I have also got some info on logging into the PHPMyAdmin on that server, which I tried and seem to be able to get into the back end with all the table info.
However, when I try drop or even just edit a column in a table that table then will not allow me to open it through Access. Just gives me the error "No current Record".

I have checked through there to see if there were any relation views on those columns and there does not seem to be.

I even tried running a table optimize afterwards but still the same.

Am I missing something here? Or is there a problem here I am not aware of?

Any help is appreciated.
