how to enable and disable "auto rehash" within a connection

1ćconnect to mysql server instance using the "mysql -uxxx -pxxx --no-auto-rehash"
now,if i want to enable auto rehash,i can type in "rehash;" or "\#".
after that,i want to disable auto rehash again,how to do that?cancel the connection and reconnect the instance?is there any convinent way?
