Removing old registers from databases larer than 100GB

Hi friends

I have a database that have more than 100Gb of data and this is slowing the program queryes. I need to know if is possible to exclude, of principal DB, data older than, for example 6 months.

The basic idea it not to complete exclude these data but, move to other database, where data will remain acessible for admins (not the principal program) as "backup"; so the principal db will running with data from last 6 months (from now for sure)

Is this possible ? How can I do it ?
