Hi,
it is possible but not recomended.

You need to build several packages and system-libs for the host, including postfix with support to the old libmysqlclient.
In addition there is some fun around libaio and dsync you need to patch beforde building the packages. I can also recommend to apply some early mysql 5.5 patches manually on the new build packages.As you should to on ppc64be as well.

I'm running MySQL 5.1.71-73(patched) on RHEL7 since 2018 now it's stable but you should avoid uptimes fro more than 250 days. It seems to build up a mem leak in postfix-libs and you should not use it as/in a mailserver.
