thanks for the reply. I did do that but didn't allow other user to alter in workbench. I also tried giving that user elevated privileges for select, update, alter routine, etc. Still nothing.

Is there a specific privilege I need to enable?

I was able to accomplish what I'm wanting by granting that user all *.* but the problem is that they then had visibility and edit ability on all databases. I tried executing grant all only for that database but it didn't change anything.
