I'm seeing similar behavior. I cannot get the MyODBC 3.51.10 to work at all from Visual FoxPro 8.0 - mostly it's just crashing.
From xCase 7.4, I can connect using a *user* DSN but the system dsn gives the error "HY000 [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Could not determine the driver name so could not lookup setup library."
The client is WinXP Pro SP2, the server a RH 9.0 updated with yum and fedora legacy. The MySQL install is a binary install in /usr/local/mysql, not an RPM install.
Ideas welcomed.
