The weird thing here is that using MySQL Query Browser from client machine gives instant results, its only when try to connect via the ODBC driver that things slow way down.
I assume that this change is in the my.conf file stored in C:\Program Files\My SQL\My SQL Server 4.1?
Anyway, I made the suggested change and still slow as hell.
