Connection troubles

Hi

I am using MySQL database for a while for a development purpose.

Now I want to connect to a remote database via MyODBC. I fail to connect and the message is "Access denied for user: 'mylogin@myipadress' (Using password: YES)".
The problem is that MyLogin is truncated in the error message to 15 characters

What is rather strange is that I succeed to connect with the same computer via:
- a php script
- phpMyAdmin

My hosting compagny don't want to give me a smaller login.

Is there any limitation with login number of characters?
