Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114

I have an application written in Visual Basic 6.0 (with SP5).
We installed this application on a customer site 2 years ago. Lately they are reporting a problem with the database access. This is the error I got from the log file.
Err.number: -2147467259
Err.Description: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver).
Apparently, when this problem occurred, they have to reboot the server. The database (MySQL) and the application are on the same server.
I am looking for some pointers?
