ODBC 3.51.06 Connection Failures

I am using Access 2000 to connect to MySQL v5.0.0. via MySQL ODBC 3.51 on Windows 2000. Ever time I am idle for more than a few minutes I get an ODBC failure of some sort. The error varies from 2301, 2486, and ODBC--CALL Failed. I cannot find a reason for this. Can anyone help.
