Re: MySQL and UTF-8 problem is being ignored
I'm having problems getting the 5.0 beta version working at all and anyway can't use it for production. Is there a scheduled release date for the connector?
I also agree that I can't understand why such a serious issue is not dealt with or at least acknowledged.
There's not a single answer which just says "You can't use MySql with Unicode on the Windows platform". If it does support this, would someone kindly explain how I get this to work? I mean what is the point in making MySql 5 Unicode safe, but then taking 2 more years and counting to get the ODBC conector up to date - or am I missing something really obvious?
The amount of hours I've spent trying to find a solution to this - it would have been cheaper to buy MSSQL! If I'd have known this when I decided on using MySql I would have gone with a different database.
MySql is a great database, but issues like this really get me wondering whether not to go with SqlServer as I anyway develop on the .Net platform (another area not supported well by MySql).
