Hi Gary,
This error might happen if Server Side Prepared Statements are disabled.
Otherwise it should be fine.
Check that NO_SSPS is not set to 1 in the connection string.
In GUI the corresponding setting is Details >> Misc >> Prepare statement on the client. Make sure it is unchecked.
