I did find a solution to this -
I had to go into the Windows XP registry and modify the entries as follows:
- run regedit
- Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Select ODBC
- Edit my ODBC definition and insert a new stringvalue called PORTS with the value of the non-default port used by the mysql dbase.
Unfortunately, everytime you edit the ODBC connection, this entry is removed and you have to re-add it.
But ..... It works.
