No connect with Password using MySQLProv

Hi!
I'm using MySql Server 4.1.9 via TCP/IP and strangely can connect from .NET trhough via user without password and not via users with password;
"Provider=MySQLProv;Location=" & IPLocation & ";Data Source=intranet;User Id=" & userId & ";Password=" & Password & ";"
used to be able to do it with a version from MySql just before this one....
any ideas?
