Hi again,

By far the easiest way seems to be to put a copy in the directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies (this is for VS2003 - make appropriate change for other versions).

Not sure what the advantage would be in adding the registry key so seeing as the directory copy method is by far the least hassle, I'm going with it unless I find a reason why not. According to some documentation (source unknown) this is what the folder is for.
