8.0 .net connector for 5.7 server

Hello,
I am using mysql server 5.7.
For the clients I develop I am using the 8.0 .net connector.
For some reason I am getting "Bad handshake" while connecting, although the connection succeeds.
What may be the cause for the bad handshake?
May it be the versions difference?
