To close the underlying connection (and this is the same as with SqlDataReader), you have to use the CommandBehavior.CloseConnection behavior when you execute the reader.

Also, connection pooling is enabled by default so even calling connection.Close() will not terminate the connection to the database. If you do not want connection pooling, then set pooling=false on your connection string.

And, yes, connection pooling is included and active.
