You can't use the data link properties in vs.net with Connector/Net. The data link properties dialog box is only for OleDB data providers and Connector/net is an ADO.net data provider.
As far as creating data bound forms, that is not directly related to MySQL. My advice would be to go out and buy a book on ADO.Net and Windows forms programming or find some tutes on the net. Once you have have basics, then you can plug in the Connector/Net.
