There could be different reasons for this to occur. And it depends on various factors like how many transactions are done concurrently, how many connections does the server is handling etc.

At first glance this looks to be that the cpu load in the server is heavy, thus when you run the application in the client the cpu load is best distributed. Which could
be the reason why you see this difference, just guessing. But it would be worth to check more details.
