Hi Don,
The gacutil command is used to put the dll into the gac so it can be available for some operations in Visual Studio, but it is not necessary to use it in your application code.

If you're using Mono you would need to rebuild the dll so you can use it in your environment with Mono. Have you done that already?.

Also what kind of application are you doing? Is it a web application?

We haven't tested this scenario so please keep us posted and we will help you setting this up.
