Regardless of that, it is certainly true that you can't call the Util method from the catch since RESOURCE_BUNDLE is not initialized. At minimum, fix the spelling mistake in "stack tace" ;). We'll have to use this modified version in our environment as it doesn't work the current way (maybe the 2-arg version works?)

As for the main issue, from what I understand my version meets the javadoc exactly, but if there really is some issue using the 1-arg getBundle, then your idea might work to try both and then throw only if both ways fail/throw. I'd definitely make sure to add comments about the design choice there so someone like myself doesn't come along, think it's silly, and change it back.

I'll try to keep myself apprised of how this bug is checked out. Is there an easy way I can do that besides watching this forum?
