Thanks for the quick response - but I already tried all combinations of zerodatetimebehaviour setting in the db connection url - the query still kills MySql with the above-reported error under 3.1.6 but not 3.0.xxx.
The methods from which the initial sqlexception is thrown have only one thing in common, they all select based on a datetime field:
e.g. select..... where deleteddate='0001-01-01 01:01:01'
There are plenty of records on the table with that value (formerly '0000-00-00 00:00:00' which worked under 3.0).
It's happening with any query that tries that. I've tried changing the table definitions to allow null values with no default - same error.

Incidentally I've also got other preparedstatements stopped working between 3.0 and 3.1.6 - some very simple. Only some have stopped working, most are fine. I'll look through the other posts on this forum before posting about these however as I see some other mentions of this.
