Yes was trying to resolve this issue for last 2 days. Atlast solved the issue by replacing the old 3.x connector JAR file with the new "mysql-connector-java-5.1.5-bin.jar" file.
That's it. The issue of - java.io.IOException: Unexpected end of input stream is gone.
