MYSQL connection reset by peer

Hi all,

I have a connection reset by peer occuring after a certain lapse of time of unused connection in my java client. It might be a connection timeout from the server.
I desperatly look for changing the timeout period in the server parameters and haven't found the way to do it.
Anyone can answer ?
