Thank you for your reply Mark. I have downloaded the driver "mysql-connector-java-3.1-nightly-20050822-bin.jar" from the link in your post and I have run the test again on Red Hat Linux / Mac OS X each running database server version 4.1.7. I do see that the correct results are returned when either the regular statement or the prepared statement is used. Looks fixed to me. Thanks again.
