I have met the same problem, it seems to be.
I can login the remote mysql server with my account from the local server.But I'll be refused by the server when I run the request in my application, both server are Linux.
The exception is throwed during the getConnection process.
The db host in the alert string is the local machine.
By the way, I can run my application correctly on my desktop[windowxp], call the db server from a local linux server.
Please help me, thanks a lot.
