Jeffrey,

Yes, set the configuration property 'jdbcCompliantTruncation' to 'false' in your JDBC url, and the driver won't look for data truncation warnings.

The JDBC spec requires exceptions to be thrown in these cases if the database can detect truncation, which later versions of MySQL-4.1.x can do.
