I have written a Java applet that connects to a mySQL database via JDBC. Each time I run the applet, I get the following error message.

java.sql.SQLException: Unable to connect to any hosts due to exception: access denied ( connect, resolve)

I'm running my own mySQL server on a Mac running Mac OS 10.3.6.

I have written a java.policy file:

grant {
permission "", "accept,connect,resolve";

but I'm not too sure where to place it.
