I'm working on a related problem and after a little research I found a number of suggestions relating to the jbdc connection string.

jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/mydatabase?serverTimezone=Europe/London#?connectTimeout=5&socketTimeout=0&autoReconnect=true

In the above example I have added

?serverTimezone=Europe/London#

I'm not sure about the trailing # but I cannot get it to work without it,

See if it helps for you and let me know. Just change my timezone to UTC
