Hi Luca,
Hope you will go for the LOAD XML stuff, even if you have to build your binaries yourself. I got this link from the MySQL people for download:
ftp://ftp.mysql.com/pub/mysql/download/mysql-5.2.5-alpha/

If you run into any problems with the command, you can simply post a message to this group. I might be able to help, since I wrote the stuff originally.

Btw, it is nice to hear that the MySql people thinks it works pretty well. It is a pity that they don't include it in 5.1 - since it is a new command any errors will probably not affect any existing installations. But of course it is the role of MySql to be the gatekeper.
