web service import

Hi all

I want to import a large volume of data from different web service calls into MySQL. Processing speed is an issue for me. Outside of using a programming language (.NET, PHP), is there any built in tool in MySQL or an add on that will allow me to do this? I'm particularly interested in tried and tested tools in terms of performance and reliability.
