a libmysql.dll problem

Hi there!
I am evaluating SqlDirect components to access with Delphi a MySQL 4.1.14 database server on a Gentoo Linux server within a LAN.

The installation pack tells me to get a "libmysql.dll" file, which I got from the web, but when I try to connect I get the message

"Client does not support authentication protocol requested by the server; consider upgrading MySQL Client".

I wrote to the author, who kindly sent me another (newer) libmysql.dll, but it did not solve the problem.

As an information, I installed the MYSQL ODBC client which I found on the MySQL download Zone, and via ODBC I can perfectly get to the databases... but I would like to get a direct access.

Thanks a lot for any idea
Piero
