Hi Lennart,

Performance issues are related to many variables not just how efficient MySQL processes your requests.

Other factors must be considered on a shared hosting account and these include, but not limited to:
- server over-load (will change at different times of day), affected by:
- traffic,
- cronjobs running,
- plus other possible erroneous os modules hogging processor time you just would not experience on simple test beds as you have links to on your blog.

If your website is experiencing such slow performance on a shared hosting account then maybe its time to get your own dedicated server.
