Andy, this answer is not very helpful, not to me anyway. How does one actually fix this compiler problem? How does one link to the appropriate ABI? Can the install routine be changed to handle this? A quick google reveals that a lot of people are encountering this problem and not getting dependable solutions.
I've got a recent install of SuSe 10.2, a recent install of Python 2.5, and a recent install of MySQL 5.0.26, and a recent download and install of MySQL-python-1.2.2 and I'm just following the instructions given and "python setup.py install" appears to work but ">>> import MySQLdb" fails.
Please help.
