Net::MySQL - SELECT query hangs with empty table.

hi,
I am using Net::MySQL to connect to the MySQL database as I couldn't get DBI installed on HP-UX platform.
Problem I am having with Net::MySQL is that when I run a SELECT query against an empty table the query just hangs without even returning an error. When the table is populated with at least one record, query works fine.
Please help to resolve this if anybody knows how.
