perl + mysql + os x + apache

Hello. I'm pretty new to os x, but I've been able to get apache set up with perl, php..etc. And I have mysql up and running. I've been able to get php to query and everything.

However, I'm not sure where to even begin with Perl. I searched all online and found some old instructional texts that tried to have me install some perl modules, but one always failed to make. and i haven't had much luck finding any other sites that could help me out.

any one care to offer some advice/how tos or perhaps a more recent link with instructions on how to get perl/apache/mysql to cooperate?
