Sorry, it seems to be bug#34340 (side by side error). By using PE Explorer I changed the manifest script where it reads "asAdministrator" to "requireAdministrator", and I could get the Configuration Wizard run. But now the issue is, reaching the final step, I am getting a message: "Could not start Windows service MySQL Error: 0". Is it smth about Windows permissions, or do I have to uninstall all MySQL applications and then reinstall it? I have a 32 bits Vista, this seems to be an additional problem... S. O. S.
