Date - unix_timestamp

I save my dates in MySQL as unix_timstamp and I need a way to be able to search the table for all entries in a certain month.

So if I want to find out how many users signed up in Jan, or Feb I can find that out. I have searched all over again but can't find anything.

I'm sure there has to be a way to just extract the month and year from a unix timestamp.

I have tried to read and understand all the different date functions, but they might as well be written in Martian.

Thanks
