Excellent - now we know exactly what the issue is :)
Unfortunately, the solution looks like it's a bit beyond my ability to solve! :)
I was thinking of reverting back to an older PHP release or trying to change that script so that it doesn't install the text that's causing problems.
As a backgrounder (just so you know what context is) this is a PHP discussion forum and the problematic script is a modification. The file I'm trying to run is an automated installation routine (creates tables and modifies existing PHP code in the forum).
This modification was written by Germans and where the insert statement fails is on the German changelog/readme/FAQ for the mod. It's actually not required (the German Changelog) so it may be possible to just change what it's trying to insert to nothing as a short-term work-around.
