I'm confused and I don't understand at all what's the ideea of the following phrase from the MySql Cert. guide:

"To match a pattern metacharacter literally, escape it by preceding it by a backslash". Can anyone explain this with examples please. In the book there is this example wich I totally don't get it - page 179

'A_' like 'A\_'

is there a link where I can find more about this escape characters.
