DATE type

by default..
when u specify something in DATE type... it will be YYYY-MM-DD

but, what in my .csv file is in MM/DD/YY format...

so, is there any "code" that can i help me change the default of DATE type in MySQL..
so, when i load the data into the database able to create it as DATE type instead of VARCHAR..

because i want to use the CURDATE() to calculate the year,month,day...

Thanks for any help...
