Using Cron To Move Data From MSSQL To MySQL Daily

Greetings. I am in need of data from a Microsoft SQL Server system managed by another group. They have set up 6 (soon to be 18) nice views for me that I can query using ODBC.

However, I cannot join these tables with the bulk of data that I manage in MySQL.

So
1) I need the data from those 6 views,
2) I need to move the data daily so that I have the data available to join with my MySQL tables, and
3) I need to manage the movement of that data from the Linux cron, not from the MS SQL Server side.

I have unixodbc set up and working on the Linux server where MySQL resides and i can query those MS SQL Server views using Perl/DBI/ODBC. The worst case is - I dump the whole MS SQL table into a file using perl/DBI/ODBC, then load it into MySQL but that is just a pain.

Ideally, I would like to create linked tables in MySQL that allow me to directly query those MS SQL Server tables, but that doesn't seem to be possible. Am I missing something ? Why can't MySQL do this ?

I really want to run a query on the MySQL side like this:
select * from mssqlLinkedTableXXX into mysqlTableXXX

Any hints / suggestions ?
